HOW DO YOU BECOME AN ACCREDITED INVESTOR?

Requirements

INDIVIDUALS

Individuals and Spouses can become an Accredited Investor if:

  1. Net Worth is over $1 million, excluding primary residence – can be individually or with a spouse.
    Documentation requirements are listed below.

  2. Income over $200,000 (individually) or $300,000 (with spouse or partner) in each of the prior
    two years, and reasonably expect the same for the current year.

  3. Provide a letter dated within the last 90 days from a third-party licensed Attorney, a CPA or an
    SEC-registered investment adviser, or Broker-Dealer certifying that you are accredited. Capital
    Fundings can provide this template if you need.

Provide deed, or Property Assessor records to prove ownership. Provide appraisal or Broker Price Opinion letter. Tax Assessor values can be used but typically are much lower than market value.

Notes

Liabilities on the Real Estate must be included. Reliable computer valuation reports, such as Zillow Zestimate may be used.

Bank Accounts, CD’s, Brokerage and Security Accounts

Required Documentation

Provide the latest statement of letter from the financial institution indicating the value of the accounts. Statement must show the Investors name.

Notes

You may redact social security numbers, account numbers and individual positions. The total Assets should be sufficient.

Required Documentation

Provide the latest statement or a letter from the financial institution indicating the cash value of the policy.

(auto, yachts, etc)

Required Documentation

Provide the vehicle title identifying the vehicle and owner. Provide a valuation from a valuation professional. Standard pricing manuals such as Kelley Blue Book may be used.

Provide evidence of ownership as best as possible and objective third party valuation of the property.

Notes

This is the most difficult asset to verify and apply. Reviewers may not accept private property if they cannot confirm ownership or value.

ENTITIES

An Entity is considered and Accredited Investor if:

  • All members of the entity must be accredited.
  • Entity has $5,000,000 in assets not raised for the purpose of acquiring accreditation status.

LICENSEES

As of 2022 you can become an Accredited Investor if you hold any of the following Securities licenses and are in good standing:

  • Series 7 – General Securities Representative
  • Series 82 – Private Securities Offerings Representative
  • Series 65 – Uniform Investment Advisor

Before you start the Accreditation Process,
you will need the following documents to upload:

Individual/Joint

Income Test – $200,000 individually or $300,000 jointly for prior TWO years

  1. Federal Tax Return
  2. W2
  3. K1 or 1099

Asset Test – Net Worth over $1 million, excluding primary residence

  1. Real estate deeds or Property Appraiser printout for ownership
  2. Appraisals, Broker Price Opinions or Zillow valuation for valuation
  3. Statements from any banking, brokerage, retirement or insurance account – must include your name and cannot be screenshots
  4. Vehicle title or registration for ownership and KBB pricing manuals for valuation
